With just seven days remaining, African mobility companies have one last chance to participate in Africa’s first comprehensive mobility ranking initiative. The application deadline for the Top 50 African Mobility Companies ranking is set for Sunday, September 21 at 11:59 PM Central Africa Time (CAT).

About the Initiative

The Top 50 African Mobility Companies ranking is a pioneering, data-driven assessment of transportation innovation throughout Africa, created through strategic collaboration between MobilityX Africa and the Africa E-mobility Alliance (AfEMA). MobilityX Africa positions itself at the intersection of e-mobility tech, established industry players, and capital allocators, existing to catalyze growth in African transportation.

This inaugural ranking represents a significant milestone for the African mobility sector, providing a comprehensive evaluation framework to identify and recognize the most impactful companies driving transportation innovation across the continent.

Benefits for Participating Companies

Companies selected for the Top 50 ranking will receive several valuable benefits:

Recognition and VisibilitySelected companies will be recognized at Africa E-Mobility Week, scheduled for October 14-16 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. This event serves as a premier platform for showcasing innovation in the African mobility sector.

  • Investment Access:: Participants gain access to over 60 capital allocators, providing crucial opportunities for funding and strategic partnerships that can accelerate business growth.
  • Continental and Global Exposure**: The ranking promises continental visibility across global media platforms, helping companies expand their reach and brand recognition beyond their immediate markets.

Expert Validation: All companies undergo evaluation by an independent expert panel, providing credible third-party assessment of their business potential and innovation.

Eligibility Requirements

The ranking is open to companies that meet the following criteria:

– Must be based in Africa or have primary African operations

– Must have been operational for at least six months

– Can operate in any mobility or e-mobility sector

– Must be beyond the concept stage with demonstrable business activity

 Industry Categories

The ranking encompasses a broad spectrum of mobility sectors, reflecting the diverse nature of transportation innovation in Africa:

– EV Hardware: Companies developing electric vehicle components and infrastructure

– Mobility Software:  Technology platforms and applications for transportation

– Ride Services:  On-demand transportation and ride-sharing platforms

– Delivery & Logistics: Last-mile delivery and supply chain solutions

– Fintech for Mobility:  Financial services tailored for transportation needs

– Data Analytics: Companies providing insights and analytics for mobility decisions

– Support Services:  Ancillary services that enable mobility ecosystems

Comprehensive Evaluation Framework

Companies will be assessed using a rigorous 300-point evaluation framework that examines three key areas

Business Strength (40%)**: This component evaluates team capabilities, financial performance, and market traction, providing insight into the company’s operational effectiveness and growth potential.

  • Innovation (30%): Assessment focuses on technical advancement and adaptation to African market conditions, recognizing solutions that address unique continental challenges.
  • Sustainability & Impact (30%): Evaluation of environmental benefits and social impact, emphasizing the importance of sustainable mobility solutions for Africa’s development.

The expert evaluation panel includes venture capitalists, development finance institution (DFI) professionals, and mobility consultants representing expertise from eight or more African countries.
