The Federal Government has proudly announced the acquisition of approximately N250 billion in funding aimed at advancing light rail initiatives in the vibrant cities of Kaduna and Kano.

During a World Press conference held on Monday in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, shared this pivotal development.

He noted that President Bola Tinubu is keenly focused on fostering substantial progress at the sub-national levels.

“Contrary to the narratives being propagated in certain circles, this administration has shown extraordinary dedication to equitable and inclusive growth since taking office.

“The allocation of capital projects under President Bola Tinubu is fair and just. No region is left behind. “The Federal Government is vigorously extending its support for various subnational infrastructure projects, such as the light rail initiatives in Kano and Kaduna States, with financing of N150 billion and N100 billion Naira respectively now secured.

“Local Government Areas are also being re-established as vital drivers of growth and development, backed by the financial autonomy that the President is resolute in operationalizing,” Idris elaborated.

The Minister clarified that all state governments are now receiving significantly more revenue than they previously accessed from the federation account.

“Thanks to the enhanced fiscal space created by the removal of the oil subsidy, sub-national governments are now empowered to accomplish much more with considerably less debt,” Idris concluded.
