The Nigerian government has announced plans to restore electricity supply to several northern states that have experienced a weeklong blackout.
This information was shared in a statement via the official Nigeria National Grid account on Saturday.
The statement indicated that a temporary supply of 400 megawatts of power is anticipated to be delivered to the region through the Ugwuaji APIR Line.
Additionally, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s special adviser on public communications, Sunday Dare, revealed on X that the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) is coordinating a collaborative effort involving the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Army to monitor the recently vandalized 330 kV Shiroro-Kaduna lines 1 and 2.
Earlier, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reported that its team has successfully identified the issues and is actively working to resolve them.
“Restoration of Line L2 is nearing completion, and work on the second line will begin promptly afterward,” TCN stated.
States including Kaduna, Kano, Jigawa, Benue, Katsina, Taraba, Gombe, Borno, Nasarawa, and others in the northern region have been plunged into darkness due to a collapse of the national grid.
