The Federal Government has unveiled a significant initiative as part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, aiming to deliver 77,400 social housing units throughout Nigeria. This initiative also includes the establishment of new Renewed Hope Cities in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano to address the country’s housing deficit.

Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, shared this information in a recent statement. He emphasized the ministry’s mission and the importance of external partnerships, stating, “The primary mandate of the ministry is to provide mass housing for Nigerians, and we welcome potential collaboration with Ms. Allen Le and Partners International Investment Consulting Joint Company to achieve this goal.”

Ata reiterated the Federal Government’s dedication to addressing housing challenges through significant investments and collaborations. “As part of the Renewed Hope Agenda, we are constructing 3,000 housing units each in Lagos, Abuja, and Kano for the Renewed Hope Cities, along with 250 additional housing units.”

Highlighting the extent of the ministry’s social housing initiatives, the minister announced a nationwide rollout: “The social housing initiative will provide 77,400 housing units, with 100 units allocated to each of the 774 local government areas,” he stated.

Ata stressed the need for clear collaboration: “We need to understand precisely how we can work together. Please submit a formal proposal to the ministry outlining your desired areas of collaboration. We look forward to identifying the specific ways in which we can assist you,” he told the delegation.

Importantly, the minister pointed out that a significant portion of the new homes will be reserved for vulnerable Nigerians: “Thirty percent of the 77,400 social housing units will be allocated to non-income Nigerians,” he noted, praising “President Tinubu for his commitment to maintaining the 30 percent allocation, even when a 20 percent proposal was suggested.”

The visiting delegation, led by Allen Ke Nam of SV-NED Incorporated, expressed strong interest in investing in the initiative.
