Cameroonian football legend Samuel Eto’o has won his appeal to contest the Confederation of African Football (CAF) executive committee elections after initially being ruled out by the organization’s governance committee. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned CAF’s earlier decision, stating he must be reinstated as a candidate ahead of the March 12 election. When CAF excluded Eto’o in January, it did not provide reasons for the decision. However, the organization, alongside soccer’s top body FIFA, had previously suspended him for alleged disciplinary violations and ethical breaches. While he was an accomplished football player, Eto’o has proven a divisive figure since venturing into sports administration. He currently serves as president of Cameroon’s Football Federation.
