The Information Network Security Administration (INSA) and the Ethiopian Artificial Intelligence Institute (AII) are set to host the Ethiopian Tech Expo 2025 (ETEX 2025). The event, scheduled for May 16-18, 2025, at the Addis International Convention Center, will be organized and managed by QNA.

As one of Africa’s fastest-growing economies, Ethiopia is making bold strides in its journey toward digital transformation. Anchored with the African Union Agenda 2063, the country is positioning itself as a continental leader in innovation and technology.

With a strong focus on innovation, security, and transformation, ETEX 2025 promises to be a dynamic convergence of policymakers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, and tech enthusiasts from across Africa and beyond. The event is set to spotlight Ethiopia’s remarkable advancements in key sectors such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence (AI), smart cities, fintech, and tech education, all of which are sectors that are rapidly reshaping the nation’s digital landscape.

Ethiopia’s IT Market on the Rise

As Ethiopia accelerates its digital ambitions, its information technology (IT) services market is projected to reach USD 2.44 billion by 2025, according to Statista. This growth is underpinned by increasing demand for cloud computing, data analytics, e-government solutions, and enterprise digital services.

Among the fastest-growing areas is cybersecurity, now recognized as both a critical enabler and a necessary safeguard in Ethiopia’s digital transformation. Security solutions and services currently account for 40% of total IT market revenue, with 70% of organizations identifying application and data security as their top priority. These figures underscore Ethiopia’s commitment to building a resilient and secure digital ecosystem—one capable of withstanding emerging cyber threats while fostering innovation and trust.

At ETEX 2025, attendees will gain valuable insights into Ethiopia’s evolving cybersecurity landscape, explore cutting-edge security technologies, and engage in high-level discussions with global security experts and national stakeholders.

Innovation Across Key Sectors

Ethiopia’s innovation momentum is visible across a range of transformative sectors:

  • Artificial Intelligence (AI): From agriculture to healthcare and logistics, Ethiopian startups and institutions are exploring AI applications that address local challenges while positioning the country on the global innovation map.
  • Smart Cities: With urbanization on the rise, Ethiopia is investing in smart infrastructure and digital urban planning. ETEX 2025 will showcase intelligent transport systems, digital utilities, and urban data management.
  • Fintech: Ethiopia’s vibrant fintech sector is fostering financial inclusion through mobile banking, digital payments, and blockchain-based services. With supportive policy frameworks emerging, the country is fast becoming a hub for next-generation financial services.
  • Tech Education: Recognizing that talent is the cornerstone of digital transformation, Ethiopia is investing heavily in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, coding academies, and digital skill development. ETEX 2025 will highlight initiatives aimed at preparing Ethiopia’s youth for the digital economy.

A Platform for Collaboration and Growth

ETEX 2025 is more than just an exhibition; it is a strategic platform for collaboration, investment, and knowledge exchange. With a robust agenda that includes keynote speeches, panel discussions, startup pitch sessions, and live demos, the event will serve as a launchpad for transformative ideas and impactful partnerships.

Participants will have the opportunity to connect with government leaders, private sector innovators, academics, and international investors, all united by a shared vision of a digitally empowered Ethiopia. The expo also provides a unique opportunity for global tech companies and service providers to explore one of Africa’s most promising and rapidly evolving markets.

A Nation Poised for Digital Takeoff

Ethiopia’s digital progress is reinforced by strong macroeconomic foundations. In March 2025, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a USD 248 million disbursement as part of a USD 3.4 billion extended credit facility (ECF) arrangement. This financial support is expected to further stabilize the economy and accelerate investment in key digital infrastructure and reform programs.

As Ethiopia continues its transformation journey, ETEX 2025 stands as a symbol of ambition, progress, and potential. It is a call to action for innovators, investors, and visionaries to join Ethiopia in shaping the future of digital Africa.

Be Part of the Transformation

Whether you’re a tech entrepreneur, a policymaker, a startup founder, or simply passionate about the future of technology in Africa, ETEX 2025 offers a front-row seat to Ethiopia’s digital awakening. Join us from May 16–18, 2025, in Addis Ababa, and witness firsthand how Ethiopia is reimagining the possibilities of a digitally connected future.
