Estonia is delivering a new military aid package to Ukraine, including 10,000 rounds of artillery ammunition.

The package will be supplemented with Estonian defense industry products worth over 100 million euros ($104 million).

The initiative will “strengthen Ukraine’s position and increase pressure on Russia,” stated Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal.

Military Support for Kyiv

Over the past three years, the Estonian government has provided military aid to Ukraine worth around 500 million euros ($524 million), the equivalent of over 1.4 percent of the country’s GDP.

Previous donations have included anti-tank missile systems and howitzers.

Other contributions include artillery ammunition, anti-tank mortars, and machine guns.

Moreover, in December last year, Estonian defense startup Frankenburg Technologies announced a plan to test an in-development anti-aircraft missile in Ukraine.

Strengthening Defense

While supporting Ukraine, the Baltic Country also seeks to strengthen its defense and deterrence strategies amid regional tensions.

In September 2024, the Estonian government announced a plan to invest 5.6 billion euros ($ 5.8 billion) in military defense over the next four years.

Under the initiative, an additional 1.6 billion euros ($1.68 billion) has been allocated for long-range ammunition purchases until 2031.

In the coming years, Tallinn’s defense spending is expected to exceed 3 percent of its GDP annually and rise to 3.6 percent in 2027.
