Ericsson and MTN Group have unveiled a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at the Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2024 in Spain, aiming to drive sustainability, digital skills, and education initiatives across Africa.
This collaboration highlights the joint commitment of both companies to bring about positive change throughout the continent. Through the MoU, Ericsson and MTN Group will join forces on sustainability projects aligned with the principles of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17. Drawing on their extensive experience and resources in the telecoms sector, the partnership will focus on advancing digital solutions to propel Africa’s development.
Ericsson and MTN Group are aligning with their sustainability goals by exploring ICT solutions to decarbonize their value chain ecosystem. This includes Ericsson providing sustainable products to improve network efficiency and reduce energy consumption. Moreover, both companies will focus on skills development to enhance digital and ICT skills, promoting competitiveness and employability.
