Safaricom, through its youth platform Hook Circle, hosted an Automobile Engineering Masterclass at Nyeri National Polytechnic, attracting over 3,000 youth in person and reaching another 500,000 online.
The event featured mentorship forums focused on automobile engineering, financial literacy, data privacy, and mental wellness, all designed to equip young people with future-ready skills and real-world exposure.
“The Safaricom Hook Circle is about turning ambition into action. We are bringing opportunities closer to the youth whether in technology, financial services, the creative economy, or career development because we believe every young person in Kenya deserves access to the skills and support that will help them thrive in a rapidly changing world,” said Fawzia Ali Kimanthi, Chief Consumer Business Officer at Safaricom.

Skills, Exposure, and Certification
The masterclass was conducted in partnership with Safaricom’s Fleet team, Advanced Mobility, and Total Energies. Participants engaged in technical demonstrations, guided mentorship, and hands-on learning in areas such as advanced vehicle mobility and lubricant technologies.
Beyond engineering, the session integrated essential life skills including financial literacy, mental wellness, and data protection awareness.
The programme plans to certify 400 students in the automotive engineering track. These certifications will equip participants with market-ready skills for immediate use or further training.
Safaricom Hook Circle runs a series of youth bootcamps across Kenya, helping young people grow in technology, career development, and culture. Since its launch, the platform has reached and impacted more than 1 million youth.
Young Kenyans between the ages of 10 and 24 can join Hook Circle via the Safaricom app or by dialling *555#.
