President Bola Tinubu haa announced that the severely deteriorated East West expressway, which runs through several states in the Niger Delta region, will be rehabilitated by the Chinese construction firm, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation Limited (CCECC).

During a working visit to CCECC’s headquarters in Beijing, the President highlighted that the high quality of work the company has delivered in Nigeria influenced his government’s decision to award the contract for the complete rehabilitation and reconstruction of the highway to CCECC.

He stated, “We have witnessed the outstanding work your company has done in Nigeria, and I want to assure you that I will sign the contract for the East West road reconstruction before I leave here.”

President Tinubu also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to collaborating with CCECC, particularly in the laying of new tracks along the Lagos-Abuja-Kano rail line, among other projects.

He assured the international construction firm that Nigeria has resolved its funding challenges, stating, “We have moved past the issue of funding and are now fully prepared for business.”
