New details regarding the death of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins have emerged from the lawsuit his widow filed in March. The civil suit claims he was “drugged, robbed and extorted” before being struck by the dumpt truck.
Haskins was only 24 years of age at the time of his tragic death. The rental truck he was driving reportedly ran out of gas, which led to him walking on the South Florida highway.
His young widow, Kalabrya Haskins, reached a settlement with three of 14 total defendants named in the suit
The lawsuit claims the dump truck was operating carelessly and over weight limit. Kalabrya settled with the truck broker, owner and driver.
Joey Smith, Meriem Yassine, Wissal Yassine and Karlee Peyton are the man and three women named in the suit alleged to have drugged Haskins with the intention of robbing him.
Dwayne Haskins shouldn’t have ran out of gas
ACE Rent A Car is being sued over the fact that its vehicle was “unreasonably dangerous and hazardous because it was mechanically damaged and ran out of gas.”
Haskins, who was reportedly drugged at that point, would not have exited his truck in search of help had the vehicle not ran out of fuel.
E11ven Miami, the nightclub where the quarterback was allegedly drugged, is also included in the lawsuit for allowing drugs in the premises.
The lawsuit against the remaining 11 defendants, which also include Wyndham Garden Hotel Boca Raton, Drive Shack Palm Beach and Blue Anchor Pub, is still in progress and more details will surely emerge.
