Dr. Dre has officially joined the ranks of the world’s billionaires, according to the latest list from Forbes. Nearly twelve years after proclaiming himself “hip-hop’s first billionaire,” the influential producer and entrepreneur has now crossed the US$1 billion threshold.
The milestone follows the landmark 2014 sale of Beats by Dre to Apple for US$3 billion, a deal that ultimately folded the headphone brand into Apple Music. At the time, Dre joked that the acquisition meant the Forbes rankings needed an update.
In its 2026 Billionaires List, Forbes notes that Dre joins a small but growing group of celebrity billionaires. Of the 22 entertainers the magazine identifies with ten-figure fortunes, nearly half have reached that level within the past three years.
Dre also becomes only the sixth musician on the list, alongside Beyoncé, Jay‑Z, Taylor Swift, Bruce Springsteen, and Rihanna – underscoring how music, branding, and technology partnerships are increasingly turning chart success into vast personal wealth.
