Terreform Labs co-founder Do Kwon has won his second appeal against the Montenegro courts opting to maintain extradition requests from both the United States and South Korea. Previously, Kwon had won an appeal in November, however, that was shortly overturned.

In December of last year, Montenegro’s high court decided to hold up extradition requests for Do Kwon. Moreover, Kwon’s council has long stated his intention to appeal the court’s decision. Alternatively, Terraform Labs CFO Han Chang-Joon has already been extradited from Montenegro to South Korea earlier this week.

Do Kwon Once Again Appeals Montenegro Extradition Decision

Since 2022, the digital asset industry has observed the ongoing controversy regarding Terraform Labs and its founders. In May of that year, the company’s stablecoin, TerraUSD collapsed. Subsequently, both the United States and South Korea brought about criminal charges against the company’s leadership.

Almost two years later, Terraform Labs co-founder Do Kwon has won a second appeal against the Montenegro courts holding up extradition requests from both the United States and South Korea. Although the situation is a win for Do Kwon, it may be a mirror image of what happened at the end of 2023.

Then, Do Kwon had previously won an appeal, with the Montenegro High Court reversing the decision a month later. Ultimately, they stated that the two countries extradition requests had merit. Subsequently, the Terraform Labs co-founder had always intended to fight the decision.

Terraform Labs’ former CFO has already been extradited to South Korea. In his latest action, Do Kwon is seemingly attempting to avoid a similar fate. Conversely, Do Kwon was arrested in Montenegro last year in possession of falsified documents. Now, many await his fate, and for Montenegrin authorities to approve his extradition and to which country.
