Tigran Gambaryan, a detained executive of Binance, has filed a lawsuit against the National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu and the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged violation of his fundamental rights.

The suit, filed by Gambaryan’s lawyer, Olujoke Aliyu, seeks relief before Justice Inyang Ekwo.

Similarly, Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager who escaped custody, filed a separate suit before Justice Ekwo.

Both suits, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/356/24 and FHC/ABJ/CS/355/24, name the Office of NSA (ONSA) and EFCC as respondents.

Gambaryan, a US citizen overseeing financial crime compliance at Binance, seeks a declaration that his detention and seizure of his passport violate the Nigerian Constitution.

He also seeks an order for his release, return of his passport, and an injunction against further detention related to Binance.

He states that his detention is due to the government’s request for information from Binance and denies committing any offense in Nigeria.

The court, upon hearing, adjourned the matter for further mention to allow Gambaryan to seek legal representation and for the respondents to respond.
