Deputy Minister Seitlholo to lead Swannies River clean-up in Grabouw on 11 July 2025 as part of the Clear Rivers Campaign. Media invited to attend.

Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Mr Sello Seitlholo, will lead a river clean-up in Grabouw alongside the Theewaterskloof Municipality and local community members as part of the Department’s annual Clear Rivers Campaign on Friday, 11 July 2025.

The Clear Rivers Campaign, observed throughout the month of July, is a nationwide initiative aimed at mobilising South Africans to actively protect and restore rivers, wetlands, and streams in their communities. Under the theme, “South Africa is a water-scarce country – clean up and protect our water resources,” the campaign calls on all citizens to take ownership of their local watercourses and become agents of positive environmental change.
Healthy rivers are vital to human survival, environmental sustainability, and the socio-economic well-being of communities. The campaign seeks to raise awareness, encourage behavioural change, and promote long-term water security by inspiring collective action at grassroots level.
