BAE Systems and Rockwell Collins’ joint segment Data Link Solutions has secured a contract to supply small form factor radios for the US Navy.
Under the order, the firm will deliver FireNet radios that enable real-time tactical information relay between network users.
It is part of BAE’s Link 16 tactical systems, a product line designed with “secure and open system architecture” supporting Joint All Domain Command and Control missions.
The equipment leverages Time Division Multiple Access technology for simultaneous and multiple data exchanges through different networks.
In addition, FireNet offers high-transmit power in a small device to address volume, weight, and cost requirements for helicopters, naval ships, unmanned vehicles, and space vehicles.
Its high-frequency to S-band capability permits warfighters to sustain enhanced line-of-sight data and voice communications.
Data Link Solutions will facilitate work for the contract at BAE’s facilities in Texas, New Jersey, New Hampshire, and Indiana.
Associated validations and certification will commence later this year.
