Czech defense firm Excalibur Army has established a representative office in Ukraine with plans to start local production of large-caliber ammunition.
The office will manage procurement, oversee documentation processes, and provide technical assistance to enhance local collaboration for joint defense manufacturing.
Excalibur Army has been supplying Ukraine since the start of the war with Russia in February 2022, delivering over a thousand land systems to Kyiv.
The equipment provided includes tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery, and rocket launchers, along with more than two million rounds of ammunition.
Czech Support for Kyiv
Over the past three years of conflict in Ukraine, the Czech Republic has maintained consistent military support for Kyiv, supplying a variety of equipment.
Assistance has come both from government transfers and grassroots initiatives.
In April, Prague completed a delivery of 86 T-72M1 main battle tanks for the war-torn country.
The Soviet-era tanks, inherited after the Cold War, included several units upgraded to the more modern T-72M4 configuration to enhance battlefield performance.
Beyond state-level support, Czech civil society has played an active role.
In March, the grassroots fundraising campaign “A Gift for Putin,” launched in 2023, had collected over $2.9 million from more than 20,500 contributors.
The funds are being used to purchase a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter for the Ukrainian military.
Additionally, Ukraine’s state-owned defense company, Ukroboronprom, signed a deal last year with the Czech manufacturer Colt CZ Group to locally assemble NATO-standard firearms.
The agreement involves a license transfer, allowing for the domestic production of CZ BREN 2 battle rifles and other weapons in Ukraine.
