Clay started his college career at Tennessee Tech, where he led the team in scoring in three of his four years.  Clay came to Tennessee State as a graduate transfer and led the Tigers and the OVC with 19.3 points and 5.5 per game en route to  All-OVC First Team honors.

Bruce Price, guard (2003-2008)

Price averaged 17.6 points per contest in a freshman campaign that saw him named the OVC Freshman of the Year in 2004. ACL injuries limited him to just six games in his junior season and kept him out all of 2006-07. Price bounced back in 2007 and 2008 to average a team-high 17.6 points per contest to make All-OVC First Team.

Robert Covington, forward (2009-13)

Covington was a four-year starter at TSU, appearing in 118 games with the Tigers. He earned various OVC accolades during his Tennessee State career, including All-Newcomer of the Year, All-OVC and All-OVC Tournament Team in 2012. Covington averaged 14.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.2 assists and ended his TSU career as the seventh-leading scorer and rebounder in school history, with 1.749 points and 876 rebounds. Covington, who went undrafted, has spent 13 seasons in the NBA.
