Zambian Ambassador to China, Ivan Zyuulu, presided over the launch of the China–SCO Economic and Trade Exchange Centre and the Guangdong and Macao Development Platform in Guangzhou.

The platforms build on outcomes from the 2025 SCO Heads of State Summit held in Tianjin and are intended to translate diplomatic engagement into commercial activity.

The Guangzhou-based centre will serve as a hub for mobilising Chinese and SCO-region enterprises to explore investment and trade opportunities in Zambia, particularly in priority sectors.

Wang Rui Cai, Director of the China–SCO Economic and Trade Exchange Centre, committed institutional backing to the Zambian push, including office space and professional services to support the promotion of Zambian projects.

On the sidelines of the launch, Zyuulu met Ma Wenfeng, Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province.

According to the Zambian embassy, the ambassador “reaffirmed Zambia’s strong interest in expanding cooperation with Guangdong Province in priority areas including industrialisation, value addition and infrastructure development.”

Ma welcomed the deepening relationship, stressing the need to strengthen economic and trade ties, investment flows, industrial development, and people-to-people exchanges.
