The atmosphere in Miami remains tense following an incident involving MMA star Conor McGregor and the Miami Heat‘s mascot, Burnie.
A potential business collaboration between the Miami Heat and McGregor has turned cold after the former UFC Champ visited the Kaseya Center on June 4 for a skit with Burnie, but things took a wrong turn when McGregor excessively punched the mascot.
The Miami Heat and TIDL deal breaks down
McGregor had travelled to Miami to promote his new healing spray, TIDL. However, according to a report by Page Six, the promotional deal between the Miami Heat and TIDL, which included custom patches on players’ jerseys, has lost momentum.
The team has reportedly removed all social media content featuring McGregor and TIDL after the punch incident occurred during Game 4 of the NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets.
Meanwhile, the person inside the Burnie costume was taken to the hospital after the promotional skit, but was subsequently discharged after receiving medical assistance.
Adding to the controversy is a sexual assault allegation against McGregor, arising from the same visit.
A woman has accused McGregor of forcibly taking her into a restroom and sexually assaulting her.
McGregor has vehemently denied these allegations, dismissing them as an attempt to extort money from him.
