Co-operative Bank Deepens Support for Naivasha Horticultural Fair
A Three-Year Commitment to Agribusiness

Co-operative Bank of Kenya https://www.co-opbank.co.ke/ has strengthened its role in agribusiness by signing a three-year sponsorship deal with the Naivasha Horticultural Fair.

The partnership underscores the bank’s commitment to Kenya’s horticulture sector, which generated US$1.06 billion (KES 137.3 billion) in export earnings in 2024.

The sector also employs more than 40% of Kenya’s population, according to the State Department for Agriculture.

“As Kenya’s leading agribusiness financier, our title sponsorship of the Naivasha Horticultural Fair

represents more than partnership—it’s a strategic investment in Kenya’s economic future. We are directly engaging with 12,000 industry stakeholders because we understand that success in horticulture requires financial leadership and tailored solutions,” said Olive Ong’ele, Sector Head Agribusiness at Co-operative Bank.

Driving Growth in Kenya’s Horticulture Sector

The sponsorship aligns with the bank’s wider goal of boosting support for key sectors such as horticulture, tea, and coffee. Kenya’s horticulture exports, flowers, fruits, and vegetables are critical to foreign exchange earnings.

Flower exports alone are projected to hit KES 110 billion (US$851 million) in 2025, according to the Kenya Flower Council.

The Naivasha Horticultural Fair provides a vital networking space for exporters, growers, suppliers, and service providers. It creates opportunities for new partnerships and knowledge-sharing.

Agriculture already contributes 21.3% to Kenya’s GDP and accounts for 65% of national export earnings, making the fair a direct driver of growth and livelihoods.

Tailored Banking for Farmers and Exporters

During the fair, Co-operative Bank showcased its specialised agribusiness banking solutions. These include export financing, supply chain financing, and customised loan products for horticultural enterprises.

Bank representatives also engaged with participants to explore sector-specific challenges.

“Co-operative Bank doesn’t simply provide banking services,” Ong’ele added. “Our solutions address pressing challenges—from seasonal cash flow management for smallholder farmers to advanced export credit facilities for flower exporters shipping to Europe. As horticulture exports expand, we ensure our clients have the financial infrastructure to seize every opportunity.”

Long-Term Commitment to Agribusiness

By supporting the Naivasha Horticultural Fair, Co-operative Bank has once again shown its dedication to the long-term growth of Kenya’s agribusiness sector.

The partnership will not only strengthen industry networks but also provide the financial backbone for businesses powering Kenya’s export economy.
