Strengthening Digital Giving for Child Wellbeing
Co-operative Bank of Kenya and World Vision Kenya have partnered to integrate a secure e-commerce donation platform into the Inuka Angaza website.
The move aims to strengthen local fundraising for child-focused development programmes as global donor funding tightens.
Through this partnership, the Inuka Angaza Online Donation Platform now runs on Co-op Bank’s Chapa Pay gateway. As a result, Kenyans, corporates, and diaspora supporters can contribute digitally from anywhere at any time.
Financial Commitment to Kick-Start the Fund
To reinforce the partnership, Co-operative Bank committed KES 4 million to kick-start the Inuka Angaza Fund. The Fund supports vulnerable children in Salgaa and other regions.
Since launch, the initiative has raised KES 39 million toward its KES 50 million target for FY23–FY25. Consequently, communities have recorded improvements in water access, education, health, and child protection.
Responding to Global Funding Pressures
The integration comes at a critical time for NGOs in Kenya and globally. Development organisations now seek sustainable and locally driven fundraising models.
Kenya has more than 12,600 registered NGOs. According to the NGOs Coordination Board, the sector receives about KES 196 billion annually. However, OECD projections indicate that external aid could decline by 9% to 17% in 2025. Major donor countries, including the U.S., U.K., France, and Germany, have already announced budget cuts.
At the same time, the global online donations market continues to grow. Worldwide Market Reports estimates its value at US$1.95 billion in 2025, with projections of US$3.54 billion by 2032. Therefore, secure digital platforms are becoming essential.
Enhanced Security and Transparency
Chapa Pay strengthens the platform with bank-backed security features. These include 3D Secure authentication and PCI-DSS-compliant processing. Together, these safeguards ensure safe and transparent online giving.
“Digital payments now sit at the centre of resource mobilisation and donor trust,” said Benard Osoro, Head of Institutional Banking at Co-operative Bank. “Our partnership with World Vision Kenya supports the shift toward locally funded development while strengthening accountability.”

Delivering Measurable Impact
The Inuka Angaza Fund forms part of World Vision Kenya’s localisation agenda. It encourages communities and partners to support child wellbeing through flexible local donations.
Funds raised have already supported:
-
1,795 girls with dignity kits and sanitary towels
-
837 children with clean piped water in schools
-
2,100 households with monthly water purification support
-
700 children with learning materials
-
60 vulnerable children with school uniforms
“Our experience confirms that online giving is both convenient and essential,” said Gilbert Kamanga, National Director of World Vision Kenya. “The secure gateway enhances accountability and enables Kenyans and the diaspora to support children directly.”
Building Resilience Through Digital Platforms
NGOs increasingly rely on secure digital systems to remain resilient. Digital fundraising reduces administrative costs and improves transparency through real-time reporting. Moreover, it expands reach, particularly among younger and diaspora donors.
Co-operative Bank continues to expand digital payment solutions for NGOs, SACCOs, social enterprises, and community organisations. Through these efforts, the bank supports efficient, accountable, and modern collection channels.
