Claire Chepkorir’s journey is one of patience, faith, and the courage to pursue a long-held dream. From her home in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, Claire is now pursuing a Master of Science in Operations Management at South Dakota State University in the United States through the International Scholars Program.

Raised in Nairobi’s Eastlands, Claire’s academic path was shaped by resilience and growth. She completed her KCSE at Moi Girls School in Bomet in 2014 before earning a Bachelor of Science in Project Planning and Management from Moi University. Over time, her early ambitions evolved into a strong interest in projects, construction, and operations.

For several years, Claire searched for a master’s program that aligned with her career goals but found limited options locally. Her breakthrough came when she discovered the International Scholars Program. After thorough research, reviewing testimonials, and speaking to past beneficiaries, she confidently committed to the program.

Through ISP’s career advisory sessions, Claire gained clarity on her next steps. She applied to Indiana University of Pennsylvania and South Dakota State University, ultimately choosing SDSU for its strong operations management focus and alignment with her professional goals.

Funding, often the biggest barrier for international students, was handled through ISP’s structured support. With funding secured and her I-20 issued, Claire moved into visa preparation with confidence. Mock interviews and focused training helped her refine her story and clearly communicate her academic intent.

At the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Claire answered her interview questions with clarity and composure. Moments later, she heard the word she had been waiting for: Congratulations. Walking out with the blue approval slip confirmed that her patience and preparation had paid off.

Claire’s transition to South Dakota was smooth, supported by fellow ISP students. She has since adjusted well to her new academic environment, describing her classes as interactive, practical, and demanding in the best way. Each day affirms that the journey was worth the wait.

This inspiring story is brought to you by The International Scholars Program (ISP), a one-stop global mobility platform empowering bright talent to study, live, and work abroad. Through diverse pathways including academic study, cultural exchange, permanent residency, and vocational training, ISP unlocks global opportunities without limits.

Through our Academic Study Pathway, we have built strong global partnerships to ensure a seamless master’s journey; from school admissions and funding to visa applications, travel arrangements, and studying abroad.
