CJN to Get N5.39M as House of Reps Passes Bill for Upward Review of Judicial Office Holders’ Salaries

The House of Representatives has approved a bill for an Act aimed at increasing the salaries, allowances, and fringe benefits of judicial office holders across the country.

The bill, submitted by President Bola Tinubu, outlines a comprehensive package with the Chief Justice of Nigeria set to receive a total monthly package of N5.39 million.

Under the proposed legislation, justices of the Supreme Court will see their total package rise to N4.21 million per month, while the President of the Court of Appeal is slated to earn N4.48 million monthly.

Additionally, justices of the Court of Appeal are expected to receive N3.73 million per month. Other beneficiaries include the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, President of the National Industrial Court, Chief Judge of the FCT High Court, Grand Khadi of the FCT Sharia Court of Appeal, President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Chief Judges of State High Courts, Grand Khadis of State Sharia Courts of Appeal, and Presidents of State Customary Courts of Appeal, who are set to earn a total monthly package of N3.53 million.

The monthly package encompasses basic salaries and various allowances such as car fueling and maintenance, personal assistance, hardship, entertainment, utilities, security, outfit, journal subscription, medicals, service allowances, restricted or forced lifestyle, dual responsibility, and legal researchers.
