The Government of Chad has launched a nationwide initiative to train 2,000 young people in artificial intelligence (AI), aiming to enhance digital skills and boost youth employability across the country.
Announced by Dr. Boukar Michel, Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Economy, the program will begin on August 4, targeting Chadians aged 15 to 35 in all provinces. Presented as a gift from President Marshal Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the initiative is part of Chad’s strategy to harness digital technology for national development and youth empowerment.
The free training emphasizes gender inclusion and regional equity and will provide foundational and practical AI knowledge to help participants seize emerging tech opportunities. Registration is already open and will close just before the program starts.
Senior officials at the press briefing affirmed their commitment to the program’s success, highlighting it as a key component of Chad’s broader digital transformation agenda. This initiative marks a significant step in building a skilled, future-ready generation and a digitally driven economy.
