Time Out’s 2025 rankings of the world’s best cities have placed three African cities in the global spotlight. Cape Town, Marrakech, and Lagos earned their spots on the list based on insights from over 18,500 city-dwellers who evaluated factors such as food quality, cultural vibrancy, affordability, and livability. Cape Town claimed the list’s top spot, celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and dynamic food scene while offering residents and visitors alike unforgettable natural experiences. Marrakech, ranked 32nd, impresses with its blend of historical charm and modern vibrancy. The Moroccan city also has a booming art and festival scene, with events like the Marrakech Film Festival proving an attractive draw to many. Lagos, ranked 41st, stands out for its creative energy as well as for reinventing itself with innovative dining and entertainment options. Together, these cities exemplify how African urban centers continue to thrive and attract global admiration.
