The City of Cape Town is forging ahead in its mission to build a thriving and inclusive city, and today the Macassar mega housing project marked another major milestone by handing over 29 more homes to qualifying beneficiaries.

‘The City’s Macassar mega project is valued at approximately R800 million and it will deliver 2 469 housing opportunities to qualifying beneficiaries across three phases. Despite facing significant challenges over time – including extortion and threats of violence on site, our teams have remained on their mission to provide opportunities to those who need them most.

‘This mega project is a symbol of what is possible when the City and communities stand together to make things work. Phase 1 is set to deliver 605 units by 4 June 2025, and we look forward to handing over every single opportunity to those deserving residents.
‘The City thanks the community, Human Settlements officials and all partners for making this day possible and who continue to work on the success of this mega project. We are creating new opportunities and new beginnings for families – one home at a time,’ said the Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim.
