The BRICS bloc has firmly set its sights on both increased strength and a global role following its upcoming two-day summit. Indeed, both Russia and Brazil have recently discussed the implications of the event, and why it could be immensely important for the collective’s ultimate goal.

The bloc is expected to discuss the prospect of expansion and set forth criteria for incoming countries. Moreover, that process should present a clear avenue for the economic alliance to complete both of its goals. Continuing its desire to create a multipolar world.

BRICS Seek to Grow Strength and Role Following Summit

For the last few months, the BRICS bloc has seen tremendous growth. Moreover, that has now set forth a path toward expansion for the economic alliance. Although the process has not been completely devoid of conflict, there is still the full expectation that the bloc will affirm expansion efforts at the summit. Something that will clearly set them on an important upward trajectory. 

Indeed, the BRICS bloc has firmly set its sights on increased strength and a global role following the upcoming summit. Specifically, member countries Brazil and Russia have discussed their hopes for the summit. Moreover, discussing how it could aid the alliance’s ultimate goal.

Firstly, Reuters reported Russia’s spokesperson Dmitry Perskov’s statements on expansion. He stated that “in one form or another, the expansion of BRICS will contribute to the further development and strengthening of this organization.”

Alternatively, Telesur reported a statement from Brazil’s president Lula da Silva. Specifically, he noted the hope of an increased role globally. “From a global perspective, I think the BRICS can play an exceptional role. “

Moreover, he remarked that it is “extremely important,” for the bloc to continue to grow. However, he also affirmed that growth must take place within the confines of established expansion criteria. Something that should come to fruition at the upcoming summit.
