The Olympic dream is over for Barbadian boxer Jabali Breedy.
27-year-old Breedy has suffered a shoulder injury in training on the eve of the 2nd and final World Boxing Qualification Tournament slated for Thailand this weekend.
The southpaw, considered the best male amateur boxer on the island, had lost in the round of 64 in the first qualifier in Italy.
It means Barbados’ chances of making the event in the sport of boxing will rest on the shoulders of Charles Cox and Kimberley Gittens, both of whom have travelled to the Asian country.
Cox is scheduled to be in the ring against Andrei Aradoaie of Romania on Saturday in a Men’s 80kg bout, while Gittens will battle Hergie Bacyadan of the Philippines in the Women’s 75kg.
