Africa PPP is pleased to confirm that Eng. Dr. John Mativo, Managing Director of the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO), will speak at the 15th Africa PPP Infrastructure Finance, Investment and Partnership Summit, taking place from 28–31 October 2025 in Windhoek, Namibia.
Kenya has emerged as a regional leader in the development of electricity transmission PPPs, offering valuable lessons and partnership opportunities for infrastructure players across Africa. Powering Progress Through PPPs: Kenya’s Transmission Projects
Under Eng. Dr. Mativo’s leadership, KETRACO is advancing a robust pipeline of PPP-driven transmission projects. Currently, more than 700 kilometres of transmission infrastructure is at the proposal and negotiation stage. This includes:
- 179 km 400kV Lessos – Loosuk Line
- 140 km RumurutiM – Maralal Line.
KETRACO is also in the process of procuring transaction advisors for several solicited PPPs, such as:
- 53 km 220kV Kwale – Shimoni (Kibuyuni)
- 132kV Meru – Maua Line
- 145 km 220kV Kiambere–Maua – Isiolo Line
The company is actively engaging with leading international proponents including Africa50, PowerGrid, EDF France, AEE Power, and ENCOMM, highlighting the scale and attractiveness of Kenya’s evolving power transmission landscape.
