Yuki Gambaryan has made it known that her husband is facing severe health risks in the Nigerian Kuje correctional facility via a statement sent by Gambaryan’s spokesperson, Monique Thompson, as reported by Reuters.

Yuki noted that her husband is in need of a “highly specialized and risky surgery.” She claimed that the herniated disc in his back became worse to the extent of being irreversibly damaged.

“My once fit and healthy husband, who loves working out, is now wheelchair-bound due to a treatable condition that has not been properly addressed.

He needs highly specialized and risky surgery, it is terrifying. Additionally, an ENT doctor examined him last week and determined he also needs surgery to remove his tonsils due to the recurring infections he is suffering in detention.”

July court hearing

In July, the Bianace executive, who is facing a money laundering charge alongside the cryptocurrency firm, was brought into the Federal High Court in Abuja in a wheelchair.

During the court hearings, Ogechi Ujam, the attorney for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), asked the court to postpone the trial. He stated that the principal attorney, Ekele Iheanacho, was not present.

Babatunde Fagbohunlu (SAN), who represents Binance, Mark Mordi, and Gambaryan, was not resistant to this request.

Presiding judge Emeke Nwite ordered Gambaryan’s transfer to Nizamiye Hospital for medical care while under stringent security supervision.

Though the judge directed that the prison authorities provide the medical certificate by July 16, the order was not followed.

On May 27, Tigran’s legal team voiced reservations that his life might be jeopardized if he stayed in Kuje jail without receiving necessary medical care.
