Taking a team and making it six-time Super Bowl winners will get you a monument of your choosing and anywhere you want. Tom Brady arrived to the New England Patriots as the now famous 199th pick during the 2000 NFL Draft’s sixth round. Simply by looking at that image of the draft, nobody imagined they were looking at the future greatest NFL player in history. The New England Patriots certainly have plenty to thank Tom Brady for. On September 11 before the Patriot’s opening game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team will have a ceremony to honor Brady’s accomplishments with the team. On Tuesday, coach Bill Belichick was asked if Tom deserves a statue right outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. MA.

Here’s what Bill said: “Give him whatever you want. I’ve spoken to Tom a couple of times. Always look forward to talking to Tom and what a great experience and opportunity it was for me to coach Tom. Tremendous appreciation for everything he did for me, did for our team, everything he gave us. Look forward to seeing him. Sounds like he’s moving on to a very successful career in broadcasting and whatever else he decides to do. He’s a pretty talented guy, I’m sure he’ll do well in whatever he chooses to do, whatever area that is. So, look forward to seeing him and I’m sure there will be a lot of excitement at the game, in the stands as there should be. He’s done an awful lot for this organization, for this franchise, for this city, the National Football League. One night’s really not enough, anywhere close to being enough for the appreciation for what Tom deserves.”
Although they haven’t always seen eye-to-eye, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick still hold a close relationship that is a result of so many years working together. He was the one who decided to wager on Tom Brady during that historic Draft day. Coach Belichick was also the one who trusted in his skills when Drew Bledsoe piced up that injury. On that first season he was given the chance to start, Brady completely took over the team and won the Super Bowl. No other player in NFL history has been able to do that, and what he did throughout his time in the Patriots left no doubt of the player he was. Belichick also mentioned Lawrence Taylor and Matt Slater as the other two players he feels privileged to have coached alongside Brady. Will the gOAT get his statue outside of Gillette Stadium?
