The Federal Government’s ambitious National Housing Programme is gaining significant traction in Benue State, with Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia spearheading efforts to bring 116 newly constructed housing units to the public. This development marks a crucial step forward in the state’s commitment to addressing the nation’s housing deficit.

Governor Alia, during an inspection of the housing estate located at Tse Ukpahar, behind Welfare Quarters in Makurdi on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, lauded the Federal Government’s persistent dedication to enhancing housing accessibility nationwide. He specifically recognized the National Housing Programme, managed by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, as a vital strategic intervention.

The comprehensive housing project, comprising over 116 units, is a testament to the Federal Government’s ongoing endeavors to provide Nigerians with dignified and affordable living spaces.

Governor Alia articulated his administration’s unwavering focus on the complete realization and subsequent allocation of these housing units to Benue State residents at accessible price points. He underscored that this initiative is in perfect alignment with the Federal Government’s overarching objective to uplift the well-being and living standards of all citizens.

Further elaborating on the plan, the Governor revealed that the Benue State Government is actively pursuing a collaborative partnership with the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). This collaboration aims to establish accessible mortgage financing options, thereby empowering public and civil servants to seamlessly acquire homes once they become available for purchase.

The Federal Government’s National Housing Programme continues to be a cornerstone in tackling Nigeria’s housing crisis, simultaneously fostering economic growth and generating employment through construction and infrastructure development.

The recent inspection and the planned completion of these housing units vividly demonstrate the robust synergy between federal and state governments. This collaboration ensures that projects initiated under national programs effectively deliver their intended benefits to the Nigerian populace.

The Federal Government remains steadfast in its encouragement for states and all relevant stakeholders to forge partnerships that amplify the positive impact of these national development schemes.
