In a bid to bring an end to a 46-year-old land dispute between the Nigerian Air Force Tactical Air Command Makurdi and its host communities, Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has given the green light for the construction of a 16-kilometre road.

The decision follows a crucial meeting convened by Governor Alia, which included representatives from the Air Force as well as delegates from the Ugondo and Mbaivur communities.

Held in Makurdi, the state capital, the meeting aimed to find lasting solutions to the longstanding land conflict.

During the deliberations, Governor Alia emphasized that the construction of the road would serve as a vital link between the borders of Makurdi and Gwer-West, extending up to the boundary with the Gboko Local Government Area.

This strategic infrastructure development is expected to enhance accessibility to the communities involved.

The governor highlighted that resolving the dispute holds the potential to attract more Federal Government attention and subsequently spur development in the state. He expressed gratitude to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, for his dedication to resolving the protracted conflict.
