Ever since it was known that two of the most anticipated movies of the summer would premiere on the same day, fans of both Barbie and Oppenheimer – films directed by Greta Gerwig and Christopher Nolan, respectively – ended up creating what has been dubbed “Barbenheimer,” with moviegoers eager to watch both films on the same day.
Although both films are diametrically opposed in tone and approach, the #Barbenheimer trend went viral weeks ago, and several NFL players have not been oblivious to it. In a video circulating on Twitter, various players are asked which movie they prefer to watch.
Thus, stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce from the Kansas City Chiefs, and Kirk Cousins from the Minnesota Vikings, answered the question. The majority of responses were in favor of Gerwig’s film, perhaps because several players have daughters whom they plan to take to watch the movie.
Both films compete at the box office.
On the one hand, Barbie is based on the world-famous doll created by Mattel, which has accompanied the childhood of several generations. On the other hand, Oppenheimer tells the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb.”
Both films are vying for the box office this weekend, not only in the United States and Canada but also in various countries around the world. Initial reports indicate a significant advantage in box office revenues for Gerwig’s film, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, although it should be noted that Barbie is suitable for the whole family, while Nolan’s film is for adults.
