The second—and largest ever—African Preparatory Meeting for the 2027 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-27) has successfully concluded in Nairobi, drawing representatives from 45 countries and more than 500 participants both onsite and online.
The high-level gathering brought together governments, regulators, industry leaders, and international partners to exchange updates, align priorities, and build consensus on critical spectrum management and connectivity issues that will shape the future of global telecommunications.
Discussions focused on strengthening Africa’s collective voice in preparation for WRC-27, with participants emphasizing the importance of unity in securing the continent’s strategic interests in areas such as spectrum allocation, emerging technologies, and equitable access to resources.
This milestone meeting marks a key step in Africa’s journey toward presenting a united stance at the global conference in 2027. Preparations will continue with further regional sessions scheduled for 2026 and 2027, where African stakeholders will finalize technical studies, proposals, and positions to be presented when the world reconvenes for WRC-27.
