Aruba is getting even more nonstop flights for the upcoming winter season

The snorkeling at Malmok. The art scene in Oranjestad. The culture in San Nicolas. The beach vibes at Eagle. All those chef’s tables.

American Airlines is ramping up service to Aruba ahead of the winter travel season, Caribbean Journal has learned.

Beginning December 18, the airline will ramp up to daily nonstop service from Chicago O’Hare  to Aruba’s Queen Beatrix International Airport (AUA). The new frequency marks a significant increase from the carrier’s previous schedule on the route, which had operated seasonally.

The move comes as Aruba continues to see surging interest from U.S. travelers, particularly from the Midwest. The island recently reported a strong start to 2025, with increased visitor arrivals and consistent hotel performance.

American’s increased service will provide greater flexibility and convenience for travelers looking to trade winter weather for Aruba’s year-round sunshine. It’s part of a broader expansion for American Airlines to the Caribbean out of Chicago, as we’ve previously reported.

The daily flights will operate through the peak winter season, aligning with one of Aruba’s busiest times of year.

American Airlines currently serves Aruba from several U.S. gateways, including Miami, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Dallas-Fort Worth.

The expanded Chicago route is part of a broader winter schedule enhancement for the airline, which also includes increased frequencies to destinations across the Caribbean.

For Aruba, it’s another sign of momentum as the island continues to build on its strong U.S. visitor base — and as travelers look for warm-weather escapes with easy airlift and world-class hospitality.

Can’t wait for the winter? You can find fares to Aruba right now from Miami for about $626 right now on American Airlines, but just $267 on Spirit out of Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood.

And Aruba has even more new hotels, including the just-debuted Secrets Baby Beach in Aruba, set on the ultra-shallow, stunningly turquoise beach in the southern corner of the Dutch Caribbean island.

Looking for a unique place to stay? We love the Boardwalk Boutique Hotel, a fun, ultra-cool boutique hotel with some of the best rooms on the island.
