State-owned Armscor, the acquisition and project management defence and security company, is opening doors for computer science, electrical and mechanical engineering and geo-informatics graduates seeking entry to the defence sector.
Officially the Armscor Talent and Development Programme, it offers successful graduate applicants registration on a database. This will be followed by “educational activities” designed to improve job performance with exposure in a working environment to add knowledge and skillsets. These, the Armscor call for applications states, will assist graduates to equip themselves for the work environment.
A closing date of 28 February for submission of a CV, matric certificate, certified identification document copy and what is termed an “academic transcript or graduation letter” will be reference checked, security cleared and have personal data verified before database entry. Armscor emphasises no work experience is required with on-the-job training provided.
Applications are restricted to South Africans not older than 35 with no criminal record. Those who make the grade are in line for “a market related monthly stipend based on the level of qualification”.
Diploma and degree qualified men and women in the mechanical, mechatronic, electronics, geoinformatics, geospatial, computer science, artificial intelligence (AI) and software engineering disciplines are listed as qualifications for applicants.
Armscor’s acquisition and project management duties see its personnel working for air, land and maritime projects as per its mandate. This includes what is said to be cutting edge defence acquisition, logistics and research support to the SA National Defence Force (SANDF). The Pretoria East headquartered company’s business extends to government departments and organs such as the Border Management Authority (BMA) and the SA Police Service (SAPS) as well as Africa by way of regional partnerships and multilateral co-operation.
“We are,” the Armscor website has it, “a strategic enabler of national security, connecting the dots between innovation, integrity and operational excellence through complex acquisitions and advanced scientific research and development”.
CVs and supporting documents can be sent to TDP@armscor.co.za
Applicants who have not received any feedback after the closing date, must consider their application unsuccessful.
