As climate risks intensify across the Global South, the need for innovative, scalable, and locally relevant solutions has never been greater. Recognizing this urgency, the ACTS Pathways Academy (APA) is proud to announce the APA Seasonal School 2026, a 7-day immersive learning experience themed Artificial Intelligence for Climate Action. The program will take place from 23–30 August 2026 at the serene Diani Reef Beach Resort & Spa in Kenya.
Building on the African Centre for Technology Studies’ long-standing leadership in science, technology, and innovation, the Seasonal School brings together researchers, innovators, policymakers, students, and entrepreneurs committed to shaping a more climate-resilient future.
Why AI for Climate Action?
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming how societies understand, predict, and respond to climate challenges. From early warning systems and climate-smart agriculture to low-carbon energy transitions, AI offers powerful tools for enhancing resilience and reducing vulnerability. The APA Seasonal School aims to equip participants with the practical skills and ethical grounding needed to apply these technologies effectively and responsibly.
What Participants Can Expect
The program is designed as an interactive, hands-on experience that goes far beyond theory. Participants will engage in:
- Expert-led lectures exploring the latest debates and innovations in AI

Beyond the Classroom: A Sustainability Fellowship
Graduates of the Seasonal School will also have the opportunity to join a 5-Month Sustainability Fellowship, extending their learning and allowing them to deepen practical and soft skills aligned with sustainable development research.

Registration is open until 31 January 2026, with participation fees covering accommodation, meals, local transfers, and excursions. Limited slots are available to ensure a high-impact, collaborative learning environment.
