AOG 2023 serves as the annual meeting place for the country’s oil and gas sector and is taking place at a critical time in Angola’s history, whereby the country is seeking to attract upstream investment and yield new discoveries, while also addressing global sustainability concerns and aligning with a just and inclusive energy transition.

Featuring opening remarks from Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, the opening ceremony will be followed by a deal-signing between the National Agency of Oil, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and three of Angola’s leading technical universities; a Ministerial panel represented by Minister Azevedo and OPEC Secretary General, Haitham Al Ghais; and a panel on gender diversity featuring leading female executives in the sector; among other notable sessions. Day one will conclude with an exclusive gala dinner and awards ceremony, recognizing the achievements and contributions of companies and individuals to Angola’s – and Africa’s – energy sector.

Day two of the conference will begin with a virtual keynote address from GECF Secretary General, Mohamed Hamel, followed by three consecutive deal-signings between Azule Energy and Sonangol, etu energias and SLB, and Ambipar and KINI ENERGIAS, as well as dedicated OPEC anniversary celebrations honoring the Organization’s 60th anniversary. Both days will also feature technical track sessions.

Over the next two days, pivotal discussions will focus on several key aspects for Angola’s energy future. These include strategies to promote and incentivize new exploration, the expansion of refining capacity to achieve fuel independence, monetization of natural gas reserves with LNG as a future transition fuel, and the engagement and development of the local workforce with a strong emphasis on gender diversity.

Additionally, insights will be shared on how investors and project developers can actively participate in the country’s energy value chain.

AOG 2023 is organized under the auspices of Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil & Gas, Diamantino Pedro Azevedo, and in partnership with the ANPG; AIDAC; and the African Energy Chamber.
