The majority of Americans are more in favor of sending US military aid to Israel than Taiwan and Ukraine, a recent CNBC survey has found.

Out of 1,001 respondents, 74 percent believe it is either “somewhat or very important” for the US government to back Jerusalem by providing weapons and equipment against Hamas.

The figures were significantly higher than the 61 percent who said Washington should focus on giving aid to Ukraine, and 52 percent who said there should be more economic or military support for Taipei.

More Americans (72 percent) also believe the US should secure its border with Mexico and boost foreign humanitarian aid.

The survey was conducted on October 11-15, a few days after the Palestinian militant group launched a surprise attack on Israel.

On US Policy and Government Actions

Thirty-nine percent of the respondents said US policy should favor the Israelis over Palestinians in their ongoing conflict.

Thirty-six percent believe Washington should treat both the same, while 19 percent were undecided.

The survey also found that for the American public, President Joe Biden moved quickly to condemn the Hamas attacks and show support for Jerusalem.

However, Biden still received a low rating for his handling of foreign policy, with only 31 percent approving and 60 percent disapproving.
