The Safaricom Chapa Dimba All-Stars ended their week-long football bootcamp in Spain on a high.

The boys’ team sealed a 4-2 win against hosts SD Huesca U20 in the final friendly match on Sunday at the SD Huesca Academy Grounds. The match came after the girls’ team completed a morning training session with academy coach Juan Ramón Fung.

A Memorable Week in Spain

The All-Stars impressed with goals from Denzel Omollo, Armstrong Omondi, Brian Aroka, and Baraka Rodgers. SD Huesca pulled one back through a Joseph Maosa own goal before Felipe Montero scored again.

However, their efforts fell short as the Kenyan side held on to a commanding 4-2 victory.

“This opportunity has been incredible,” said Baraka Rodgers. “We enjoyed our time in Spain and gained so much from this one-week elite camp. Experiences like these broaden our mindset and change how we approach the game.”

Beyond the pitch, the squad of 24 players, 12 boys and 12 girls scouted from Season Four’s regional and national games, engaged in masterclasses, training sessions, and friendlies at S.D. Huesca’s sports city.

They also attended a live Segunda División match between SD Huesca and Málaga CF, alongside cultural tours and sightseeing experiences.

Building the Future of Kenyan Football

Fawzia Ali, Safaricom’s Chief Consumer Business Officer, stressed the value of the camp. “Our youngsters gained invaluable exposure to professional football. They learned from top academy coaches and trained in world-class facilities,” she said.

The Spain tour closed Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season Four, an initiative that continues to nurture grassroots football talent across Kenya. Already, more than 10 players from this season have been scouted into national teams and professional clubs.

Among them are Derrick Oketch and Austine Odongo (Shabana FC), Brighton Anyona (Gor Mahia), Brian Aroka (Tusker Youth), and Emily Morang’a (Kenya Police).
