
The latest release of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) ICT Development Index (IDI) in June 2025 shows that Algeria has made a significant leap, rising to 74th place globally, reflecting an improvement of 15 positions from its 2024 ranking of 89th.
With a score of 86.1 points, Algeria outperformed the global average (78), the Arab region (77.6), Africa (56.1), and the upper-middle-income country group (81.1), highlighting its growing strength in the digital space.

The ICT Development Index, widely recognized as the leading benchmark for assessing ICT progress, evaluates countries based on two core pillars: Universal Connectivity (access to the internet among individuals and households) and Meaningful Connectivity (effective and affordable use of the internet across various sectors).
This notable advancement reflects Algeria’s commitment to expanding digital access and usage across the nation, guided by the President’s vision to make ICT tools and services available to all citizens, regardless of location.
