Algeria and Italy have taken a significant step forward in enhancing digital cooperation, with Sid Ali Zerrouki, Algeria’s Minister of Post and Telecommunications, and Adolfo Urso, Italy’s Minister of Enterprises and Industry, signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to advance bilateral collaboration in the fields of postal and telecommunications services.
The agreement focuses on developing telecommunications infrastructure, particularly in international bandwidth and undersea cable networks, and improving postal and digital communication services for citizens of both nations. It also emphasizes ensuring the resilience and continuity of these services in all circumstances.

In addition, the MoU promotes the development of human capital through joint technical workshops and training initiatives for Algerian and Italian experts. The partnership will also encourage greater cooperation between telecom operators to boost international interconnectivity, expand mobile data services, and support the growth of cloud computing, 5G technologies, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Strategic areas such as data protection, cybersecurity, radio communications, spectrum management, and innovation are also key pillars of this agreement, reflecting both countries’ shared commitment to building a secure and forward-looking digital future.
Minister Zerrouki emphasized the strength and evolving nature of Algerian-Italian relations, describing the shift from a traditional partnership to a visionary alliance grounded in mutual interests and a clearly defined digital roadmap.

He highlighted the modern understanding of sovereignty, which now extends beyond national borders to include data, digital infrastructure, and technological autonomy. He concluded by reaffirming Algeria’s strong commitment to implementing the MoU through concrete and strategic actions for mutual benefit and shared progress.
