Airtel Kenya Launches ‘Smarta Bundles’ Campaign

Airtel Kenya Launches ‘Smarta Bundles’ Campaign, provides all-in-one Package Incorporating Airtel Money Cash Back for Bank to Wallet transactions.

Airtel Kenya, the fastest growing telecommunications and mobile money services provider in Kenya has today launched its Smarta Bundles offerings.

This innovative and groundbreaking offer will provide Airtel customers a ‘Smarta’ way of living, conveniently addressing their communications and mobile money needs under one comprehensive package.

The ‘Smarta Bundle’ packages provide great amounts of resources for SMS, Data, voice calling minutes to any network, and for the first time, enhanced Airtel Money benefits to its subscribers.

Under the package, through a first-of-its-kind offer in the market, subscribers of ‘Smarta Bundles’ will also enjoy 100 % ‘Rudishiwa of Transaction Fees’ as airtime for Bank to own Airtel money wallet transactions.

They will also get reimbursed 100% of their transaction costs as airtime on cash withdrawals at any Airtel Money agents and on making payment to paybills of any network across the country.

These benefits are in addition to sending money for free between Airtel to Airtel and paying to any ‘Buy goods’ tills across the country at zero cost.

Another innovative feature introduced on the Smarta Bundles is the daily allocation of data with any unused resources rolling over to the following day and compounding until the expiry of the bundle’s validity period, thus, keeping the customers digitally connected all through the month.

Insights on consumer consumption trends show that majority of customers subscribe to daily individual packages of voice, data and SMS; at various points, they have to keep track of which bundle is expiring when, a task that is quite inconvenient.

‘Smarta Bundles’ will ensure a convenient way of staying connected without having to worry about disconnections.

The Smarta Bundles come in two price points, KES 1000 and KES 1500

Remarkably, ‘Smarta Bundles’ not only address connectivity and communication needs, but also ensure that customers’ financial needs are catered to across the whole month. These new bundles highlight Airtel’s mission of being a purpose driven, innovative and customer focused brand.

In July 2024, Airtel launched its 5G Home Unlimited plans with the 5G router that has a battery backup lasting up to 6 hours. This feature, a first of its kind in Kenya ensures seamless connectivity in the event of power interruptions. Recently, Airtel launched its Progressive Web Application, Airtel Lite that addresses the issue of low storage on phones, ensuring customers can easily access all self-care services such as airtime and bundle purchase conveniently. These and the newly introduced Smarta Bundles demonstrate Airtel’s continuous commitment to innovation, and customer-centric solutions.

The offer ensures Airtel Money customers transacting with all banks in the country do not bear the brunt of the charges on Bank to wallet transactions. Rather, they will enjoy the benefits of airtime from these transaction fees, experiencing added value. This new offer, exclusively available to Smarta Bundles customers is part of Airtel Money’s Rudishiwa campaign series.

In December 2023, Airtel Money launched ‘Rudishiwa Transaction fee’ campaign that reimbursed customers’ withdrawal charges as airtime on withdrawing money at Airtel Money agents. Responding to customers feedback for a similar offer on Paybill payments, in December last year, Airtel launched its ‘Paybill rudishiwa’ campaign. This offer gives back 50% of costs incurred on Paybill transactions to its customers as airtime. Contrastingly, ‘Smarta Bundles’ subscribers will receive 100% reimbursement of Paybill transaction costs as opposed to the current running offer of 50% reimbursement.

Airtel Money MD, Anne Kinuthia-Otieno reaffirmed Airtel Money’s commitment to innovative mobile money solutions, saying, “Every Kenyan is looking to save. With bank to wallet transactions gaining popularity today, the costs associated with them are not to be ignored. At Airtel Money, we are cushioning Kenyans, ensuring they save more by reimbursing 100% of their bank to wallet transaction charges as airtime. ‘Smarta Bundles’ reinforce our dedication to convenient and flexible financial inclusion.”

Airtel is committed to delivering exceptional value and convenience. The launch of ‘Smarta Bundles’ is a step towards Airtel’s mission to enhance the digital and financial experiences of its customers.

Customers can subscribe to the Smarta Bundles by dialling *544# or *334# on their Airtel lines or through the My Airtel App.

The 100 % ‘Rudishiwa Transaction Fees’ as airtime for Bank to own Airtel money wallet is a promotional and limited time offer. Terms and conditions apply.
