Abu Dhabi Police have issued a warning over fraudsters luring victims through misleading tactics, such as placing ads and holding fake auctions for luxury watches on social media platforms.
Victims are tricked into transferring funds, only to receive counterfeit watches upon inspection.
The police also highlighted fraudulent trading platforms where scammers post professional-looking advertisements using official-looking profiles to boost credibility.

Once the victim deposits money, the platform simulates (fake) profit growth to gain their trust and encourage further deposits. However, when victims attempt to withdraw their funds, they are unable to do so.
Abu Dhabi Police urged the public not to pay any deposits for fake vehicle plate numbers or property, and to be wary of scam websites posing as insurance providers or popular restaurant and retail brands.
These fraudulent platforms present attractive offers to lure users into paying fees, after which the scammers withdraw the balance from the victim’s bank card.
Jobseekers were also cautioned about “fake employment” scams, where fraudsters exploit official events by creating fake online profiles of recruitment agencies or companies.
These scams involve collecting fees from applicants for jobs that do not exist.
The public was advised not to share any confidential personal information, including:
- Account or card details
- Online banking passwords
- ATM PINs
- Card security codes
- Verification codes
Abu Dhabi Police emphasised that no legitimate bank employee would ever request such information.
Residents were urged to report any fraud attempts or suspicious calls from unknown individuals asking to update bank details.
