Dennis Hernandez, the older brother of Aaron Hernandez, was arrested Friday for missing his court date. He is currently in legal trouble due to throwing a brick at ESPN headquarters in March. The re-arrest was ordered Tuesday after the no-show.
On March 23, 2023, the Cheshire Police Department booked Dennis in Connecticut for allegedly throwing the brick with a note onto the ESPN campus. He then briefly eluded police while riding in an Uber in a pursuit that extended to other towns.
“To all media outlets. It’s about time you all realeyes [sic] the affect media has on all family members,” the note read. “Since you’re a worldwide leader, you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up! Yours truly, Dennis J. Hernandez.”
Dennis, 49, smiled in his mugshot and reportedly did so again when he turned himself into the Bristol Police Department early Friday morning.
He was booked on a charge of failure to appear. Dennis is due in court next week and this time won’t be able to avoid his fate.
What happened to Aaron Hernandez?
Aaron was a tight end for the New England Patriots and won the Super Bowl alongside Tom Brady in 2012.
He was then arrested and charged for the murder of Odin Lloyd in the 2013 offseason.
Aaron was found dead in his jail cell in 2017. It was ruled a suicide. He had just been acquitted on the charge of a double-murder in another case five days prior.
The NFL champion was posthumously diagnosed with CTE. Coverage of his life and death could be why Dennis is so upset with mainstream media.
