Collins Elbit Vision Systems (CEVS) has delivered its 3,000th F-35 Gen III Helmet Mounted Display Systems (HMDS) for the Joint Strike Fighter program.

The technology’s next-gen user interface is a pilot’s primary display system, allowing “intuitive access” to day/night sensor, tactical, and flight information.

“CEVS has developed and delivered next-generation solutions that have kept pilots safe and battle ready for nearly 30 years,” said Daniel Karl, co-general manager of the Collins Aerospace and Elbit Systems of America joint venture.

“The HMDS offers pilots in combat zones unmatched situational awareness, giving them the vital information they need to make decisions faster. Our team in Wilsonville, Oregon, is proud to have helped lead the development and manufacturing of this technology for our warfighters, which will help them win the future fight.”

Total CEVS Deliveries

With the 3,000th delivery for the Joint Strike Fighter program, CEVS has provided over 20,000 systems to warfighters and logged more than 1 million flight hours on 40 different fighter aircraft platforms.

The company passed its most recent milestone five months after unveiling its Zero-G HMDS+ designed for sixth-generation fighter aircraft.

“Zero-G – the newest generation of our HMDS – is the lightest, most capable and safest helmet mounted display system ever developed,” co-general manager Jeff Hobert said.

“It was designed for next-generation fighter aircraft platforms and can also support 4th and 5th generation aircraft.”

Zero-G HMDS+ Contract for US Navy

CEVS received a contract last September from the US Navy to engineer, produce, and test Improved Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems.

The company submitted its Zero-G Helmet Mounted Display System+, which projects an augmented view of the battlefield for enhanced effectiveness, rapid decision-making, and increased survivability.

The system was developed to provide advanced helmet-mounted lenses for pilots of fourth, fifth, and sixth generation and other fixed-wing assets.
