Kenyan Fans Relish Ongoing AFCON Tournament in Cote D’Ivoire

Kenyan football fans – staff from KCB and NBK are currently relishing the moments in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Ivory Coast. The team that arrived in the West African country on January 18 were treated to footballing excellence as they watched Egypt vs Ghana that ended in a 2-2 draw at the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium.

The following day, they traveled to Cote D’Ivoire’s second largest capital – Yamoussoukro where they got an opportunity to visit one of the largest catholic churches in the world known as Our Lady of Peace Cathedral.

Speaking at the Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium yesterday evening, KCB’s Eric Oketch said: “This is a once in a lifetime experience for us Kenyan football fans. We are having a good time here watching live matches in the amazing stadiums here at the Cote D’Ivoire. We have enjoyed the local delicacies and the people have been welcoming.”

They have also visited the country’s other capital Grand Bassam to enjoy the local cuisine, played beach soccer and went out for shopping at the Kavu traditional shopping centre that is based in Grand Bassam.

Yesterday evening, they once again returned to Felix Houphouet Boigny stadium to watch Guinea vs Nigeria that saw the Super Eagles trounce their opponents 1-0 to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament marking its 35th edition this year.

The 25 staff from KCB and NBK were rewarded with the trip following their excellent performances in the ‘Form ni AFCON’ staff incentive campaign for the sale of life insurance underwritten by Old Mutual
