Business Insider Africa, a Pan-African innovative business news provider, has presented – courtesy of the Forbes real-time billionaires list – the top 10 richest people in Africa at the start of 2024.

The Forbes Daily billionaires ranking platform tracks daily changes to the net worth of the most high-net-worth individuals across the globe. As noted, the figures availed represent the net worth of the entrants as of January 1, 2024.

Johann Rupert and family heads into the new year as Africa’s richest man.

Rupert, 73, is a South African billionaire businessman, who is the eldest son of business tycoon Anton Rupert and his wife Huberte. He is the chairman of the Swiss-based luxury-goods company Richemont and the South Africa-based company Remgro.

Next is Aliko Dangote, 66, a Nigerian businessman and industrialist, best known as the founder, chairman, and CEO of the Dangote Group, the largest industrial conglomerate in West Africa.
